This is not rocket science. You breathe in a shallow fashion and oxygen levels are not at great as they could be.
When you are frightened your body attempts to remedy the condition by rapid breathing. It clarifies the mind when in crisis. However, one must train themselves to breath deeply into the abdomen so that one is on an even keel in the first place.
